Jacory Harris went 12 of 21 for 158 yards and two touchdowns leading the Miami Hurricanes to bowl eligibility.
Harris came in for Robert Marve, who scored on an early touchdown run but struggled, and threw the only second half touchdown tying the game at 17 in the game’s closing seconds.
Harris’ second touchdown pass, in overtime, put the Canes up seven on their first and only possession. The Cavaliers quickly folded, fumbling the game away on their first play of the extra session,
handing Randy Shannon’s men entry into the Coastal Division fight.
Graig Cooper carried 24 times for 131 yards in the victory and Javarris James added 53 on nine carries.
The story of the day were the missed opportunities by the home side, who could have repeatedly put the game away, including two critical missed field goals.
The win throws the youthful Hurricanes into the mix in the Coastal division of the ACC with three games to play.
Miami now face a bye week before they return to action Thursday Novemeber 13th at Dolphin Stadium against the Virginia Tech Hokies.
